A poem by Angelo Colavita

CONDUCTOR
after Paul Romano
flower from
flowering
gesture of
pain | being
that which carries off
(and oft an offering
writ) the wrist, it
bends | extends
from copper black
to copper bright
across the break
of breadth —
what’s spake or sung
conducted through
a blooming hue
of pastel
open from opening
limb from limb
— at last
her talons clasp
stands passive
the passerine
